The Amazing Lucky Hand Root - Now Available at ConjureDoctor.com

We've just added another cool hoodoo curio to our shop for your conjuring pleasure - the Lucky Hand Root. This incredible looking root is shaped like a little hand - fingers and all! Like many hand-shaped things in conjure it is great for good luck, money luck and gambling luck. Here are some ways you, too, can use Lucky Hand Roots.

Lucky Hand Root Mojo Bag

In a red flannel bag combine together a Lucky Hand Root, an Aligator Paw and Five Finger Grass. Dress this with Van Van Oil or Lucky 777 Oil and carry it for good luck with money and gambling/lotto. Dress the bag with some of the oil right before going into a casino or when you are looking to have another wave of money come into your life.

Lucky Hand Root Hand Rub

Grind together a Lucky Hand Root, some sugar and some marigold petals until they form a fine powder. Before you play lottery tickets, play dice, play cards or any other form of gambling, take a pinch and rub it between your hands. Clap your hands three times saying "I WIN!" with each clap, then go play your game. Don't take anything from another person's hand (unless it is that lottery ticket) or they'll take your good luck away from you. Once you're done gambling you can wash your hands with cool water and go about your day. You can always reapply some more of your Lucky Hand Root Hand Rub if you're going to have one of those long days playing in the casino or the bingo hall.

Lucky Hand Root Cologne / Table Wash

If you're going to host a gambling night at your house and play some poker with your friends, here's a great way to trick the table so the cards will play in your favor. Take a Lucky Hand Root, a High John the Conqueror Root and a Lodestone, and place them inside a bottle of Hoytt's Cologne. Let them sit in the bottle for 7 days before using this. When you're going to host that poker night or other gambling night, put a dash of the tricked Hoytt's Cologne on a damp rag and use it to wipe down the seat of the chair you'll be sitting in - but NOT ANYONE ELSE'S chair. Then wipe down the table stroking toward your chair saying "All the good luck in the room is mine! I win every hand! All the winnings come to me!" Make sure to do this well before your guests come to play and the odds will be tipped in your favor. You can also wear this cologne on your hands when you go gambling.

Animal Curios in Hoodoo

One of the hallmarks of hoodoo spells is the use of more than just herbs in magical workings. Rootworkers will often couple together roots, herbs, minerals and zoological curios (animal parts) for maximum power in their spells. If you ever get a mojo bag and it has more than just plant material in it, then you can pretty much bet it was made by a genuine rootworker. I normally make a point of including some kind of animal curio in my 13-Item Custom Mojo Bags.

Animal curios are usually something very rare or difficult to get your hands on. Their rarity is what lends them such power. Of course, the magical attributes associated with each curio is often reflective of the Doctrine of Signatures - a philosophy used by many herbalists that attributes powers to curios according to what they look like. Consequently, animal hands or feet were good for luck with anything you laid your hands on. Animal genital parts were for love or virility, etc. Here is a list of some of the more typical animal curios a rootworker would use in their work - particularly in the construction of mojo bags.
Raccoon Penis Bone - "Coon Dong"
Raccoons have bones inside of their penises. These bones can be extracted from dead raccoons, cleaned and used in mojo bags for love, sexual prowess or even for luck - especially in gambling luck.

It is said that you can tie a red string around a raccoon penis bone making it into a necklace and give it to a girl you like in order to make her fall in love with you and stay in love with you. Dress the coon dong with Love me NOW! Oil for added power first!

Alligator Foot
A gator foot is a great curio to include in any gambling mojo bag. As it resembles a hand, it would be particularly good with dice gambling or craps. You can add it to a mojo bag or just carry it on its own - like a keychain.

One particularly good gambling luck mojo bag takes a silver dime and puts it in the grasp of an alligator foot. Try to use a silver dime that was minted in a leap year. Put that into a green flannel bag along with a lucky hand root, and a pinch of five-finger grass. Dress this with Lucky 777 Oil and carry it on you when you're playing craps or just having a friendly game of dice with your friends.

Lucky Rabbit's Foot
This is one of the most classic and universally known hoodoo animal curios; the rabbit's foot. Again, being a paw, it is considered good luck with games of chance where you manipulate the item with your hands: dice, cards, etc.

A rabbit's foot can be placed in a flannel bag and carried as a gambling luck mojo, but it is more typically made into a keychain and carried in that manner. Traditionally, a rabbit's foot is dressed with Van Van Oil for fortunate out comes and luck with money and love. Rub your lucky rabbit's foot before shooting dice or playing cards but keep it out of sight as with any luck item. You don't want people to know you have an advantage over them.

Cowrie Shell
A cowrie shell is the home of a little aquatic snail that lives in the ocean. The shell itself resembles a vagina, and as such, can be used in any spell dealing with female sexuality, or by women looking to attract others.

A great mojo bag for women to draw men as sexual partners can be made by obtaining a cowrie shell, dressing it with some of her vaginal fluids, and placing it in a red mojo bag along with queen elizabeth root and cubeb berries. Dress this bag with Hot Fucker Oil and carry it on you either tucked into your panties or into your bra and watch the men come running your way!

Badger Tooth
Here we have a unique animal curio that came into hoodoo from European tradition. Badger's teeth are used in gambling luck work. You can include one in a mojo bag or even wear it as a necklace or a charm off of a watch or bracelet.

Another good gambling mojo bag would consist of a green flannel bag with a badger's tooth inside, along with a pair of dice that were used in a winning run, a piece of pyrite, devil's shoestrings, a whole nutmeg, alfalfa and marigold petals. Dress this with Fast Luck Oil or whiskey right before gambling and make sure to rub your hands with the bag before you play your game of choice.

High John the Conqueror and his two brothers

Hoodoo originates from the magical practices of the Congolese slaves that were abducted and brought to America. While the original tribal religious practices were subjugated by the slave masters and the slaves were forced to convert to Christianity, the original magical practices were preserved and adjusted for the flora and fauna of the new world.

Back in Africa, the rootworkers and conjurers there used one root that conferred upon its bearer strength, prowess, luck and fertility. This root was even edible, and often used in magical talismans and workings. This root doesn't grow in the temperate climate of the United States, so they sought out the magical knowledge and wisdom of the local Native Americans for similar local herbs. The Native Americans taught the slaves that there were three locally growing roots that together had the power they were looking for. These were: High John the C0nqueror, Little John to Chew and Dixie John (Southern John - if the name Dixie offends you).

High John the Conqueror
A man ain't a man without a High John in his hand! - Dr. E.

High John the Conqueror (ipomoea jalapa), is the whole root from a beautiful vine that grows extensively in the south. It is also sometimes called Jalap or High John. It confers virility, strength, the power to overcome obstacles, good luck, love, and success on whoever carries it. It is not edible, as it is an extremely powerful laxative, so it is never taken internally. It is mainly included either in mojo bags, in jack balls and an infusion can be made into an oil that is then used to dress candles, or feed mojo bags. High John the Conqueror is included in blends like Success and Eloquence, where it lends a person the ability to overcome any situation and succeed. You can also use High John the Conqueror Oil in candle spells or to feed mojo bags for the same reasons.

Little John to Chew
Sometimes called "Court Case Root", Little John to Chew is mainly used for success in legal proceedings, to get the court to rule in your favor. Little John to Chew, is edible, and is frequently used in Southeastern Asian cuisine where it is known by its culinary name, Galangal. It has a piney-gingery flavor. One of the most common ways to use Little John to Chew is to take a sliver of the root and boil it in sugar water to get it nice and soft - letting it sit overnight in the syrup. The next day, take the sliver of root with you to your appearance in court, and chew it up as you are entering the court house. Then, without drawing too much attention, spit the chewed up root on the floor of the courtroom to get the judge to rule in your favor. Little John to Chew is included in Court Case Powder and Court Case Oil to help you win over the judge and jury.

Dixie John (Southern John)
This root is actually from a trillium plant that grows extensively in the south. It is non-edible, and usually used in whole form. Dixie John grants the user sexual prowess and helps solidify marriages, fireing them up with passion. It also grants the rootworker luck in love relationships, and the ability to dominate your spouse. An easy way to use Dixie John is put a whole root in a muslin bag and toss it into the washing machine with the sheets from your bed. You will have incredible passionate sex on those sheets from then onward! Dixie John is included in blends like Love me NOW! Powder and Love's Fire Oil to make it your relationship hot and sexy!

The Three Johns Jackball
This jackball is a pocket piece that resembles the little red rubber ball used when playing jacks (the kid's game). It is carried for success, power, mastery and good luck in money, gambling, business, love and a strong sexual nature. It includes bits of all three "john" roots (essentially recreating the original root's powers from Africa), with a bit of the individual's personal concerns inside, all wrapped up with red thread. A jackball is oten carried inside of a red flannel bag just for safe-keeping. It can even be used as a pendulum for divination in determining the best outcome to a situation.

Mercury (Silver) Dimes

Silver Dimes, also called Mercury Dimes were minted between the years of 1916 and 1945. They were composed of 95% silver / 5% copper and depicted the mythological figure of Liberty donning the phrygian cap (winged cap) indicating freedom of the mind. The winged figure was misinterpreted to be the Roman God Mercury of communication and business. These dimes are a powerful and useful magical curio that is often employed in Hoodoo workings around luck, protection and wealth. It is said that a Mercury Dime from a leap year was the most powerful amulet for gambling luck and if it was from your birth year, even better!

Mercury Dimes for Protection Against Tricks

One of the most effective and powerful amulets against being "poisoned through the feet" (being cursed or hexed by walking through a magical trick someone laid for you) is by wearing a Mercury Dime on a chain around your ankle. Anointing the mercury dime with Fiery Wall of Protection Oil would add to its protective powers. If the dime turns black then it is a warning that someone tried to cross, goofer or hot foot you, and that you have been protected from its influence and warned. It is still a good idea to take an uncrossing bath after discovering that your dime has turned black. The science behind the magic is quite simple. Sulfur is a common component in Crossing Powder, Goofer Dust and Hot Foot Powder, and sulfur turns silver black. Thus, if you have come into contact with sulfur, the dime will tarnish and alert you its presence. If the anklet breaks for any reason, it is said that the dime "took a hit for you" and absorbed the negativity of a powerful curse that someone threw in your tracks.

Mercury Dimes for Gambling Luck

Mercury dimes are a powerful gambling amulet, and are often included in mojo bags carried by gamblers into casinos, or when playing dice. A good gambling mojo bag would include a lucky hand root, a mercury dime and five finger grass. Place this in a red flannel bag, smoke it with a gambling incense blend (like Lucky 777 or Fast Luck) and then feed the mojo with Lucky 777 Oil or Fast Luck Oil. Carry it in your pocket whenever you gamble.

Fiery Protection Oil, Lucky 777 Oil and Fast Luck Oil are all available from conjuredoctor.com
