How to Use Hoodoo Oils with Candles

Command! Oil is used to
command and control others

One of the primary uses for Hoodoo Oils is by using them with candles. They add the spirit medicine and energy of the plants contained therein directly to the candle. This is why it is important to use authentic oils that are constructed with real essential oils that contain plant essences in them. Synthetic oils will not work for this purpose. They have no spirit medicine or hoodoo energy in them. Dr. E. Products hoodoo condition oils are all made with real essential oils and even have bits of the herb in the bottle as our mark of quality.

First take a candle of the appropriate color for your goal. If your goal is money related use a green candle. If love related grab a red candle. If you seek protection, or blessings use a white candle. If you seek to curse someone use a black candle. For success use a yellow candle, and for personal power or to control others use purple candles.

Carve the name of your target into the candle's wax with a pointy tool like a chopstick. If the candle is for you, then carve your name into the candle. I also like to carve the person's birthday or zodiacal symbol for their sign into the candle. Then carve your desired magical goal into the candle. For a love spell you might carve "My perfect mate comes to me!" or for money you may carve "I get lots of money fast!"

Now that your candle has been carved, drip 2 or 3 drops of the right hoodoo oil for your goal, into your hand and stroke the oil onto the candle. I like to stroke the oil toward me for spells where I am drawing a goal (like money draw, to draw protections or to draw love). I stroke the oil away from me when I want to push something away or to afflict another person (like hot footing spells, curses or reversing spells).

Augment your Candle's Power with Hoodoo Powders and Herb Baths

To augment the power of the candle, sprinkle some of the appropriate Hoodoo Sachet Powder on your candle as well. Just pick one that is the same as your oil and sprinkle it directly onto the candle once it has been oiled. You can even buy a packet of Hoodoo Herb Bath of the same kind as your oil and sprinkle the herbs in a ring around your candle for maximum impact. While they are designed to be baths, they are just raw herbs and you can use them for any purpose, not just baths.

Make up a Name Paper for Your Hoodoo Spell

Take a photo of your intended target and flip it face down. Write your intended goal 3 times stacked. If your goal is for money you may write "Money Comes To Me, Money Comes To Me, Money Comes To Me" where if your goal is reversing you may write "Your Evil Returns To You, Your Evil Returns To You, Your Evil Returns To You".

If your goal is a positive constructive one, turn your paper 1/4 turn clockwise. If it is a destructive or afflictive one, turn your paper 1/4 turn counter-clockwise. Then write the name of your target criss-cross over the goal, three times stacked (just like the goal). You are making a matrix of the target and the goal criss-crossed like a crossroad on the back of the photo.

Now dab some of your Hoodoo Oil on the four corners and center of the photo. This is called "five-spotting" the name paper and it adds the power of the conjure oils directly into your intention. You can also dust your name paper with Hoodoo Powders for added effect too!

Setting up Your Hoodoo Candle Spell

Place your candle in a holder and place this on a white dinner plate. Put the plate on top of your name paper and sprinkle some herbs around your candle. Pray to God in your own words for your goal then light your candle and take a moment to gaze into its light and reflect on the power of your spell. When the spell is done burning, you can gather up the name paper and the bits of leftover herb and wax and dispose of them in a trash can at a crossroads. It's my preferred place to plant finished spells of any time.

Using Condition Oils with Hoodoo Spiritual Baths

After a cleansing bath, make
sure to use an oil for protection
for for your magical goal

Another great use for hoodoo oils is after a Hoodoo Herb Bath. After you've finished taking your magical bath and have air dried your body, dab a bit of hoodoo condition oil on your body. I often recommend dabbing a bit on each wrist, behind each ear, over the heart and on the bottom of each foot. Make sure to test a little bit of the oil on your inner forearm for skin sensitivity before using lots of it on your body since they aren't formulated for skin usage.

When doing a cleansing Hoodoo Herb Bath it's best to use a protective or drawing hoodoo condition oil to replace the energetic void created by cleansing. If you use Spiritual Purification Herb Bath, Uncrossing Herb Bath, 13 Herb Bath, Cut Away Herb Bath, or Road Opener Herb Bath, it's best to follow up your bath with one of these oils:

The Truth About Road Opener (Abre Camino)

One of the most popular blends in modern-day rootwork is Road Opener. Road Opener products can be found in just about every modern-day supplier and their popularity makes sense. Who wouldn't want their roads to be free and clear of obstacles? But most rootworkers don't really know the backstory on Road Opener, where it comes from and what it really takes to make true Road Opener products.

Where Does Road Opener Come From?
Road Opener as a magical blend originates from afro-caribbean traditional religions and their magical systems. The name Road Opener is actually a direct translation of the Spanish name Abre Camino. Abre Camino means "opens roads" or "road opener." It describes the magical purpose of the blend quite succinctly; it clears obstacles and allows you to have open roads to success and attainment of your goals. What most rootworkers don't know, is that while Road Opener (Abre Camino) is a name that describes the function of the magical blend it is also the folk name of an herb! Abre Camino is the folk name for Eupatorium villosum, a shrubby bush found in the tropics.

What is Abre Camino (Road Opener)?
Abre Camino (Eupatorium villosum) is commonly found throughout the Caribbean and in near-tropical climates like southern Florida. Its introduction into magical products comes from the Afro-Cuban religions of Santería (Lukumí) and Palo Monte where the plant is used extensively in magical preparations and religious rituals. While the stems and branches of the plant (whole and powdered) are more typically used in the religion of Palo Monte, the leaves of the plant are used in Santería.

Road Opener Products Must Have Real Abre Camino Herb!
So now that you know what Abre Camino is, and where it comes from, you can logically deduce that real Road Opener products need to have real Abre Camino herb within them While there are many Road Opener oils and baths out being sold out there, not many of them have actual Abre Camino herb within them. Dr. E. Products prides itself on including a piece of Abre Camino wood within every bottle of Road Opener Oil, and Abre Camino shavings within our Road Opener Herb Bath. We firmly believe in the power of plant spirits to assist the rootworker in the work she or he does. Without the presence of that herb in the blend, it's just another "cleansing" product like Van Van or Uncrossing - but it's not real Road Opener.

Crossroad Road Opener Herb Baths
There are many ways to use Road Opener Herb Bath. Here's one way to remove obstacles and open your roads to opportunity. First take one packet of Dr. E. Products' Road Opener Herb Bath and pour it into a large coffee cup. Pour boiling water over it and allow it to steep for about 10 minutes. Strain the herbs out and if you'd like you can sprinkle them on the earth outside your front door. Get a large basin or bowl and fill it with bath temperature water. Add the cup of herbal infusion to the bowl of water - this is now your magical bath.

Take your bowl into the bathroom and place two small white candles on either side of the bathtub. You're going to need a way to collect some of the used bathwater that comes off of you during your bath, so either plug the tub or place a second empty bowl inside the tub to catch any leftover bath that runs off of you. Light your candles, disrobe and take your bath into the tub. Pray to God in whatever way you are most comfortable - you can even pray to the orisha Elegguá and ask for his help in opening your roads, removing any blockages you may have toward goodness in your life, and to make your journey easy. Pour the bath over your head and make sure some of it runs off into that bowl you're standing over. Pour the bath completely over your body making sure even your back and feet get a good washing. Wipe any excess bath off of you and step out of the tub.

Lightly towel dry but do not remove all of the moisture from your skin. Let the last bits dry on you to keep the influence of the herbs on you. Dress in white clothes head to toe (for best results - or at least the lightest clothing you can find). Collect some of your used bathwater in a cup and take it to a four way crossroad. Now to be clear, because there seems to be some confusion about this, you need a crossroad where 2 roads intersect in a + shape. (That's it, please don't over think or overcomplicate the idea of a crossroad as many have done in the past.)

Be careful of traffic, but do the best you can with the following part. Toss a bit of the used bathwater toward the road running east saying "Open my roads to health and vitality". Toss a bit of the used bathwater toward the road running south saying "Open my roads to success and luck". Toss a bit of the used bathwater toward the road running west saying "Open my roads to love and passion". Then toss a bit of the used bathwater toward the road running north saying "Open my roads to prosperity and wealth". Then say "Man of the Crossroads, I ask you to open my ways, clear my obstacles and help me have success and progress in life. Amen!" Now return home, and pinch out your candles. If you want you can place them up on a fire-safe counter or on a plate and let them burn all the way down. If there's any leftover used bath water you can just let it run down the drain.

Road Opener Candle Spell
There are also many ways to use Road Opener Oil but here's a great easy way to use it. First you'll make a name paper. Take 4" x 4" piece of paper and write "Open Roads" on it stacked 3 times. Turn the paper 1/4 turn clockwise and write your name across it stacked 3 times. Dab a bit of Road Opener Oil on the four corners and center of the paper and set it aside.

Get a yellow jumbo candle (or any other type of candle) and dab a bit of Road Opener Oil on it. Stroke the oil on the candle toward you saying "Open my roads to health, love, money and luck!" Set the candle in a candle holder. Place the name paper on a plate then sprinkle a bit of Road Opener Herb Bath on top of the name paper in the shape of a large "+" (making a little crossroad on the plate). Place the candle in the center of the "+" of herbs. Now pray to God in your own words for the obstacles in your life to be cleared away and for your roads toward your goals and the blessings in your life to be open and easy.

Light the candle and take a moment to gaze into the candle flame and picture all of the goals you would like to accomplish in life as if you already had them. Once you've pictured all of your goals and desires, say "Amen" and let the candle burn all the way down. Once the candle is done burning you can interpret the way the wax drippings are shaped for signs as to the success of your spell. (this is a very subjective and interpretive art - please don't ask for help in interpreting your own results) You can finish up by taking the wax remains, the name paper and the herbs, wrapped up in a bit of brown paper and leave it in trash receptacle near a crossroad (where two roads intersect in a "+" shape). Walk away and don't look back. Your roads will be open and clear.

Saint Joseph - Patron Saint of Carpenters and Fathers

With Father's Day right around the corner, I thought it would be nice to post an article about Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph is the patron saint of carpenters and fathers. He is a very popular saint in the Italian community and is often petitioned for assistance with employment, with family matters and with selling a home or acquiring a new home.

Saint Joseph - Patron Saint of Carpenters and Fathers
Saint Joseph was the mortal father of Jesus Christ. He raised Jesus as his own son, cared for him, provided for him, put a roof over his head and also taught Jesus his craft - carpentry. Saint Joseph is the embodiment of good fatherhood, dutiful nurturing of your family, and hard work done with integrity. If you are a father, he is a great role model for being the best parent you can be. If you didn't have a good relationship with your father, Saint Joseph can be petitioned to mend the rift between you and your father, or he can act as a surrogate father for the one you never had. He is warm, caring and very approachable in prayer work.

Petitioning Saint Joseph to Sell Your House
In this terrible housing market, it can be very hard to sell your home. Here is a very traditional folk magic way to call upon the assistance of Saint Joseph to sell your house. It works like crazy, but it is important for you to abide by all of the process or you can watch your entire sale fall apart before it is done.

You'll need:

• one small statue of Saint Joseph
• one Saint Joseph Candle
• one bottle of Saint Joseph Oil
• a small piece of pyrite

First, take the Saint Joseph candle and put a few drops of Saint Joseph Oil in the top of it. Pray over the candle to Saint Joseph asking for him to bless your house and make it attractive to potential buyers. I also like praying the Lord's Prayer at the end of any petition to a Saint. Light the candle and let it burn in a safe place in your home. Dab a bit of Saint Joseph Oil on the four corners and middle of every room. Also dab some Saint Joseph Oil on the four corners and middle of every door and window. Pray to Saint Joseph asking for his help in making your home warm, attractive to buyers and for the house to sell fast! Let the candle burn until it is finished.

Next, hold the small statue of Saint Joseph (you can find one online or at a Catholic supply store) and pray the following:

Prayer to Saint Joseph to Sell a House
O, Saint Joseph,
you who taught our Lord
the carpenter's trade,
and saw to it
that he was always properly housed,
hear my earnest plea.


I want you to help me now
as you helped your foster-child Jesus,
and as you have helped many others
in the matter of housing.


I wish to sell this [house/property]
quickly, easily, and profitably
and I implore you to grant my wish
by bringing me a good buyer,
one who is
eager, compliant, and honest,
and by letting nothing impede the
rapid conclusion of the sale.


Dear Saint Joseph,
I know you would do this for me
out of the goodness of your heart
and in your own good time,
but my need is very great now
and so I must make you hurry
on my behalf.


Saint Joseph, I am going to place you
in a difficult position
with your head in darkness
and you will suffer as our Lord suffered,
until this [house/property] is sold.


Then, Saint Joseph, i swear
before the cross and God Almighty,
that i will redeem you
and you will receive my gratitude
and a place of honour in my home.


Amen.

Now dig a hole and bury the statue of Saint Joseph upside down, facing east in the backyard of the property. If there is no backyard, you can bury it in the front yard. If there is no yard, bury it in a potted plant.

Finishing up the Saint Joseph Spell to Sell a House
IMPORTANT: Once the property has sold, you must dig up the statue and take it to your new home. Clean it off and place it in a position of honor in your new home, thanking the saint and offering prayers there. If you do not complete this final step, you will encounter problems with the sale or the buyer may back out at the last minute. You can also dab the four corners and center of every room in your new house with Saint Joseph Oil for his continued blessings in your new home.

Clear the Way with Road Opener! (Abre Camino)

Sometimes life feels like a constant up-hill climb. Everything you try to do is a huge effort, and often those efforts don't amount to anything. It's like a serious case of bad luck.

Now, in these instances it's a good idea to rule out jinxing or crossing as a cause. A good psychic reading will help you in determining the cause of your problems. If you come up clean, and aren't being hexed or crossed in any way, then you just need to have your road opened up a little.

That's where Road Opening products come into play. Road Opening (Abre Camino - as it is known in Spanish) actually comes to us from magical workers in Latin America. While it's not strict hoodoo, it does work very effectively to get your road to open up and to assist you in attaining your desires. The main herbal ingredient in Road Opening supplies is an herb called Abre Camino (Eupatorium villosum or it's more current botanical name Koanophyllon villosum). Abre Camino grows is tropical climates, and can be found in southern Florida as an endangered herb, although it is abundant in the rest of the tropics. Abre Camino's use in magic has historical roots in the Afro-Caribbean religion of Palo Monte where it is added to their spirit pots to give those entities the power to open and close energetic roads in magical work.

Combining my knowledge of herb uses in Palo along with my knowledge of hoodoo herbal correspondences, I've created Road Opener Oil and Road Opener Herb Bath - each of which is made with the herb Abre Camino along with a few traditional energetic clearing and luck herbs from hoodoo lore.

Using Road Opener (Abre Camino) Baths

One of the easiest ways to clear out your path in life is to give yourself a set of 7 Road Opener Herb Baths. These should be started on a Monday, the herbal infusion is poured over the head to wash away any obstacles, and then the captured bath water is tossed into the crossroads over your left shoulder (just as in an uncrossing bath). These baths will serve to open up your opportunities in life and make things a lot smoother for you. Keep in mind, Road Opener Herb Baths will not remove jinxes or evil magic that has been thrown at you, so it's important to check to see if the cause of your obstacles in life is due to external magic, or just plain old bumps in the road.

Roads of Fortune Spell - For Love, Money and Luck

Here is a great little spell to help open up opportunities for you in life; love, money and luck. It capitalizes on the power of Road Opener products along with some other condition oils.

You'll need:

• Your photo
• 1 Yellow glass-encased candle
• 1 red jumbo candle
• 1 green jumbo candle
• 1 orange jumbo candle
• 1 Bottle of Road Opener (Abre Camino) Oil
• 1 packet of Road Opener (Abre Camino) Herb Bath
• 1 bottle of Fast Luck Oil
• 1 bottle of True Love Oil
• 1 bottle of Money Draw Oil
• Salt
• a piece of pyrite
• a whole nutmeg
• a lodestone
• a red flannel bag

Start by gluing your photo to the front of the glass-encased candle. Then poke 3 holes down into the wax of the glass-encased candle using a skewer. Into the holes add a few drops of Road Opener Oil. Set this candle in the middle of your work area. Now, on the red candle, carve the word "Love" and dress it with True Love Oil stroking the oil toward you. On the green candle carve "Money" and dress it with Money Draw Oil stroking the oil toward you. Finally on the orange candle carve "Good Luck" and dress it with Fast Luck Oil drawing the oil toward you. Set these three candles in holders in a triangle pattern enclosing the yellow candle with the orange as the top point of the triangle, and the red and green candles as the bottom two points. Using salt, create a line from the point candles to the central candle. You should, in effect, have three roads of salt radiating out from the central candle toward each of the three blessing candles. Dress the lodestone with True Love Oil and set it by the red candle. Dress the nutmeg with Fast Luck Oil and place it near the orange candle. Dress the pyrite chunk with Money Draw Oil and place it near the green candle.

Now, go take one Road Opener Herb Bath as described above. Once you have dried off and disposed of the used bath water properly, then return to your working surface and light up the central candle. State "OPEN THE ROAD! OPEN THE ROAD! OPEN THE ROAD!" knocking on the table each time you say it. Then light the orange candle and state "My roads in life are filled with good luck, good fortune and fortuitous outcomes. This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ! AMEN!" Next light the red candle and state "My roads in life are filled with love, acceptance, friendship, camaraderie and support. This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ! AMEN!" Finally light the green candle and state "My roads in life are filled with prosperity, money, good paying jobs, fortunate financial transactions and large profits! This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ! AMEN!"

Then begin chanting "Luck, Love, Money - OPEN THE ROAD!" over and over while you gaze into the flames that are lit. As you chant faster and faster, stamp your feet and once you feel you've raised enough energy stop and exclaim "By your holy power, Jesus Christ, AMEN!" Allow the candles to burn all the way down. When the central candle has burned out, you can then collect the pyrite, the nutmeg and the lodestone and place them in a red flannel bag. You can add a pinch of the salt from the "roads" that radiated out from the central candle too. Tie off the bag, dress it with a bit of Road Opener Oil and carry it with you for general good luck in everything you do.

The Cut Away Spell - Getting Over a Break Up

I'm proud to announce the release of two new products on ConjureDoctor.com. Cut Away Oil and Cut Away Herb Bath! Both are used in cutting emotional ties to past relationships so that you can clear your heart and your mind to move forward with your life.

Below is a great spell I've posted before, but modified to take advantage of Cut Away products for maximum effect.

The Cut Away Spell

Too often, the emotional charge surrounding a break up will color the true experiences we had with someone. This can affect future relationships we have with people when we unjustly hold them accountable for the past actions of others. The purpose of this spell is to simply let go and allow your former friend or lover to follow their path in life, and to focus on the good things you shared, as well as purge the negative memories from your system. This is a healthy spell to do after a lover has broken up with you, or you've had to push a friend out of your life.
Supplies needed:

• Blessing Oil
• Cut Away Oil
• Cut Away Herb Bath
• Lavender flowers
• Salt
• A photo of you
• A photo of your former lover or friend
• a lemon
• a knife
• a white figural candle representing you (of the appropriate gender)
• a black figural candle representing your former lover or friend (of the appropriate gender)

Take your photo and write your name 7 times, turn the paper 1/4 turn clockwise and cross the block of your names with "I love and heal myself". "5-spot" your photo with Blessing oil by dabbing a bit on the four corners of the photo and one in the center. Put a pinch of lavender flowers on your photo, then fold the photo in half toward yourself. Turn it 1/4 turn clockwise and fold it in half again toward yourself. Repeat one more time for a total of three folds. Place this prepared name-paper aside.

Take the photo of your former lover or friend. Write their name out 7 times. Turn the paper 1/4 turn counter-clockwise, and cross the written block of text with "I release you from my life" 7 times. Dab some Cut Away Oil on the photo in a "5-spot" pattern, saying "I cut ties with you and release you to the 4 corners of the earth. Your path leads you away from me, and you no longer hold any power over me, nor does any connection exist between us any longer!" Put a pinch of salt on the photo to gently cleanse their influence out of your life. Then fold the photo in half away from you. Turn it 1/4 turn counter-clockwise and fold it away from you once more. Repeat this one more time for a total of 3 folds. Set this aside.

Take the white figural candle that represents you and carve your name into it. On the other side of the candle write "Blessed and healed". Dress the candle with Blessing Oil, stroking the oil toward yourself to invoke blessings and healing into your life. Set this on your working surface, to the left of center on top of your prepared name-paper, facing toward the left. Now take the black figural candle and write your former lover's name on the candle. On the other side of the candle write "I cut ties with you". Dress this candle with Cut Away Oil to cleanse away the negativity that this person brought into your life - stroke the oil away from you as you dress it. Place this candle to the right of center, on top of the name-paper for your ex, facing toward the right.

You should now have two candles, sitting atop their respective name-papers, facing away from one another. (Leave a little space between them - they should not be touching.)

Light your candle saying "May the light of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost bless me every day of my life. Heavenly Father burn away the bitterness of unkind words. May the tears that I've already shed cleanse away the pain and baptize me into a new life of peace, love and tranquility. Protect me, Lord. Guide me, and may my future be filled with blessings and love."

Light your ex-lover or friend's candle saying "I release you (person's name). Your fate leads you elsewhere, far away from here and out of my life. I cut ties with you. You no longer are a part of my life and I deliver you into the hands of God. May he do with you as He sees fit."

Now, using the knife, cut the lemon in half and say "With the cutting edge of this knife may the sour fruit that was born out of our relationship squeeze you out of my life forever! AMEN!" Now squeeze the lemon juice out of the fruit in the shape of a line that is drawn between the two figural candles - an impenetrable wall of clear-cutting power.

Then, move the figural candles away from one another little by little over the course of the next hour being careful to not burn yourself. Make sure you move the name-papers too so they stay under the candles. When the candles are finally about a foot apart, let them burn all the way down. Take the remnants of your candle and name-paper and bury them in your backyard to keep the blessings in your life. Take the remnants of your ex-lover or ex-friend's candle and name-paper, and throw them into a river that runs out of town. As the water in that river flows out of your town, so shall that person flow out of your life.

Finish by taking a Cut Away Herb Bath to cleanse away any emotional upheaval from the ceremony. Make sure to capture some of the used bath water and throw it out toward the west. As the sun sets that day, so too shall the sun set on that chapter of your life and you'll be refreshed and able to move on with your life.
