Crossing Spells and Curses

Ah, the dreaded curse! You've been crossed up! They double-crossed you! You've been jinxed to hell!

One of the most feared magical acts is the curse, and many people who come to me for magical advice are convinced they are crossed up or cursed. The truth of the matter is that about 1 out of every 10 people who come to me thinking they are cursed actually are. Usually, a person's misfortunes are just a matter of their own negative thinking, or irresponsible

behavior, or just plain "life happening".

When you're cursed, you exhibit very specific symptoms and your life circumstances take a very unusual turn for the worst. A seasoned rootworker knows how to identify a crossed client by asking what their symptoms are like. They usually confirm the cursing with a reading just to be sure. Treatment usually requires the client to perform a series of Uncrossing Baths or 13 Herb Baths to remove the affliction from their body. I usually tell these clients to also perform a house cleansing because 90% of the time that person has tracked whatever cursed them (powders and such) into their home.

So, this begs the question... how do you cross someone up? Well, I'm not going to give you all of my secrets but I'll share a typical crossing spell for your curiosity. Keep in mind that you should perform an Uncrossing Bath on yourself after doing such spell work - to get the nasty energies off of you.

Crossing Candle Spell

This is a pretty typical crossing spell that uses candle magic, pins and some kind of personal concern to affect the targeted enemy on a very physical level.

You'll need:

• A black cross candle
• Your enemy's blood, hair, sexual fluids, finger nail clippings or such
• 1 bottle of Crossing Oil
• 1 packet of Crossing Powder
• 13 pins
• Dirt from a 4-way crossroads
• Vandal root
• Sulfur
• Packet of Uncrossing Herb Bath

Carve your enemy's name on the vertical part of the cross candle. Carve "Sickness and Devastation" on the cross bar of the candle across the name. (You can substitute any affliction for what I selected above... such as bad luck, misery, impotence, poverty, divorce, etc.) The idea is that you are "Crossing" the person's name with the affliction. Dress the candle with Crossing Oil by stroking the oil away from you, all the while cursing (using cuss words) and declaring with great emotion what misfortune you'd like to see your enemy hit with. Dust the candle with Crossing Powder.

On a large plate, lay out an equal armed cross of crossroads dirt. Retrace that cross by sprinkling vandal root. Retrace the cross again with sulfur. Set the personal concerns of your target in the middle of that cross and state clearly "I cross you up (Enemy's name)! Anything you go after fails, anything you try to accomplish slips through your fingers, and your path through life is filled with misery, suffering and devastation!" Place the candle on top of the personal concerns.

Light the candle and once the flame is steady, take 13 pins and one-by-one, heat the tips in the flame of the candle and poke them into the sides and arms of the candle. As you poke each one, curse the target with some kind of misery or affliction. Once all the pins are in the candle, leave it to burn.

At this point, take your Uncrossing Bath.

When the candle is done burning, dispose of the remains at a 4-way crossroad, or by tossing them over the wall of a cemetery. Walk away without looking back.

The photo above was a crossing spell I performed for a client. The target was publicly discredited and immediately removed from his job and out of my client's life. Good stuff.

Crossing an Enemy Using Foot Track Magic

Hitting an enemy through the feet using foot track magic is one of the most common and well-tested spells you can do. Crossing usually involves laying out something in the form of an equal armed cross where your enemy will walk over it. Typically Crossing Powder or Hot Foot Powder are used. To really hurt an enemy and make them crawl around on the floor on all fours, howling like a dog, use Goofer Dust.

It's simple, really. Just take your powder, mix it half-and-half with local dirt to hide the color, then sprinkle it on your enemy's porch or doorstep in the shape of an equal armed cross. You can also sprinkle it on the ground by the driver's side door of their car for them to tread on it when they get in. When you sprinkle the powder make sure you are walking bent over, backward and calling your target's name for it to afflict them. It will only hit the person you name, all others will tread over it and be fine.

Make sure to take an Uncrossing Bath when you get home to remove the evil powders from your body.

The crossing work that I perform is much more elaborate but still based on some of the fundamental principles in this posting. I tend to work more with spirits and using them to cross or torment people, and I also get a lot of mileage out of reversing spells to get back at people. You might want to consider a reversing before resorting to crossing someone up.

Hot Foot Spells with a KICK!

Hot footing is one of the more benign ways of getting rid of someone. It's basically a "get away from here" spell - no ill wishes intended. The classic method of getting rid of someone is just to sprinkle some Hot Foot Powder where they'll walk over it, thus affecting them "through the feet" - causing them to hot foot it out of town.

I've come up with some new, inventive and different approaches to hot foot someone out of your life, and decided to share some of them here.

Fire Under Your Feet, Haunt in your Home
This is a spell performed when you have a noisy neighbor or someone living in close proximity to you that you really need to get rid of. It effectively burns a fire under their feet, and at the same time haunts their home so that they NEED to get out of where they are.

Take a red glass-encased candle, dress it with GTFO! Oil and a generous pinch of Hot Foot Powder, as well as a pinch of Graveyard Dirt. As you add in the Graveyard Dirt, pray to the spirit that it belongs to and instruct then to haunt that person's mind, their dreams and their home. Instruct them to make it miserable to live there, to open and close doors and cabinets, make scary noises, the whole deal.

Next lay out a "crossroads" of Graveyard Dirt on your surface. Add arrow heads to the four ends of the crossroads and instruct that same spirit to drive those individuals (calling them by name) far away from here. I like to say "they can be happy anywhere, but they can't be happy here!" Instruct the spirit to continue to haunt them and that house UNTIL THEY LEAVE, at which point he is to stop harassing them and leave them in peace.

Tap the candle three times on your counter to seal in the energy, set it in the center of the crossroads and burn it all the way down. Interpret the results of the candle's burn as a sign to the success of the spell.

Hot Foot + Shut Up Spell
This little spell not only gets the person out of your life but compels them to stop their gossiping hateful ways. I affectionately call it the STFU/GTFO spell since it uses both products.

Get a black figural candle of the appropriate gender to correspond with the intended target. Carve their name into the back of the candle with a coffin nail. Using the same nail, carve out the mouth of the candle so that you can put things in it. Now, dress the candle with STFU! Oil and GTFO! Oil, rubbing the oil onto the candle by stroking away from you.

Next, stuff the mouth of the candle with STFU! Powder. As you do this, call the target by name and command them to shut the hell up, stop their gossip, and that the bitter taste of their evil words will fill their mouth. Now wind black thread around the candle's mouth like a gag, and as you do so state "(Target's Name) I gag you and shut you the hell up! Never again will you utter a single word about me or against me. Taste the bitterness of your hateful words and learn from your mistakes!"

Now, lay out a crossroads of Hot Foot Powder on your surface with arrow points at the ends of the croassroad lines. Stand the candle up in the center of the crossroads and add a bit more powder on top of the candle's feet. Burn the candle all the way down. Interpret the behavior of the candle's burning pattern and any wax drippings.

Finally gather together all of the remnants from the spell and go to the nearest river that runs out of town. Toss that mess into the river over your left shoulder saying "Just as this river runs out of town, so shall you run run run out of my life forever, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, AMEN!" Walk away and don't look back.

These spells work effectively to get rid of troublesome people without directly hurting them. At most they will feel the effects of their own actions and learn from their mistakes. At worst, they will just move away and keep up their obnoxious behaviors, but far away from you.

How to Use Magical Baths

Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean
Magical Baths are one of the simplest and most effective ways of purifying the self, preparing yourself for magical work, or for inviting in desired magical effects. In fact, Magical Bathing was one of the first spiritual exercises I was taught in my magical training - probably because it is simple, effective and the results are immediately noticeable.

The tradition of using herbs in cleansing and magical bathing is an old practice rooted in Judeo-Christian tradition and African religious traditions. Psalm 51:7 even reads: "Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." and the tradition of using hyssop in cleansing baths persists to this day. In fact it is one of the required ingredients in any uncrossing bath.

How to Bathe
Hoodoo's magical baths are not luxuriating tubs full of flower petals and perfumes that you sit and soak in. They are basins of herbal and mineral infusions that are dumped over the head quickly. There is something to be said for the shock of dumping water over your head versus slipping into a warm comfortable bath. It shocks your system and instantly changes your energetic vibrations.

Baths are typically done in the following manner:

1. Set up two white candles burning on either side of your tub such that you'll have to pass through them as you step out of the tub.
2. Heat up some water and allow your herbs to steep until they have transfered their essence and aroma to the water (as strong tea-like infusion is perfect) - strain the herbs out of the liquid
3. Fill a big basin with bath-temperature water and add your herbal infusion to it (diluting it)
4. Disrobe and take your basin into the bathroom
5. Stand in the bath between the two lit candles and dump the bath over your body* making sure to capture some of your used bathwater either by plugging the tub, or by having a bowl at your feet that will catch some as it runs off of you
6. Pray a psalm that is appropriate for your condition*
7. "Squeegee" the excess liquid off of your body, step out of the bath between the two lit candles*
8. Air dry
9. Dress in clean clothes
10. Take some of the captured bathwater outdoors and toss it over your left shoulder toward the east (toward the rising sun)* and walk away without looking back
    

*Conditions, adjustments and considerations
Above is the "general" outline for how baths are performed but there are some conditions and considerations depending on what you seek to get out of your bath.

Direction of pouring: Traditionally, if you are inviting in something (like drawing in love, or drawing in money or protection) you would pour the bath over your body starting at your feet then moving upward toward your head. If you are elminiating something (like taking a curse off of you, performing an uncrossing or reversing something back at an enemy) you would pour the bath over your body starting at the head and working your way downward. This same rule is used when "squeegeeing" the excess liquid off of your body. Squeegee downward to get things off of you, squeegee upward to invite energies into your life.

Time of bathing: Traditionally magical baths are performed before the sun rises. Invariably someone will complain about how early this is. To them I say, "tradition says, before the sun rises" but the idea is to do it as the first thing before you even speak to anyone.

Silence: Do not speak or utter a word until you are praying in your bath. Thus the first words you utter all day are your magical intent in the form of your psalm.

Psalm: Typically Psalm 23 is prayed while performing any type of bath, but there are others you can use according to your needs.

Psalm 23: The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Tossing out the Bath Water: Typically captured bath water that contains your former energetic condition is disposed of by tossing it toward the east, toward the rising sun. For cleansing baths - like Uncrossing Baths or Spiritual Purification Baths, the water can be tossed toward the east into a crossroads to disperse your former negative energy toward the four corners of the earth. For spells to wash someone out of your life, you can perform your bath at sunset and toss the water toward the west that the "sun may set" on that relationship.

Bathing for Consecutive Days
It is traditional to perform magical baths for several days in a row when performing an uncrossing or other magical cleansing. Typically, a 3-day, 7-day, 9-day or 13-day course of bathing will be prescribed depending on how bad the situation is. Major Uncrossing Baths will require a 13 day bath run. A simpler Love Uncrossing bath might require just 3 days worth of bathing. If you are performing a magical bath prior to a spell (like a Money Draw Bath before preparing a Money Draw candle) you only need to perform one bath the morning of your magical working immediately before you do your spell work.

The Crossroads Ritual

The Crossroads - a place where two roads meet at right angles to make a "+" shape - is considered a very powerful magical place. Often times, the remains of spells or tricks are disposed of in a crossroads in order for the energy of the spell to be dispersed to the four quarters of the earth. Bath water from cleansing baths is often tossed into the crossroads toward the rising sun in order to dispel and dissipate the influence that was taken off of the person. Other spells will require a portion of the spell's remains to be deposited at sequential crossroads leading either toward or away from the home to either attract or repel a person or an influence from a person's life.

The crossroads is a unique place in that it is a place that is between places (neither this way nor that way), and it is also a directional point from which decisions or directions must be made. Consequently, there is common association of crossroads to special deities or spirits found in many cultures - including West African cultures.

The Black Man at the Crossroads
In hoodoo, there is a traditional ritual performed in order to gain mastery over some manual skill - typically playing guitar, playing dice or singing/dancing. The most famous example of this is typically attributed to Robert Johnson who is said to have "sold his soul" at the crossroads to learn mastery at writing songs and playing the guitar. This attribution is a mistake, however, and it was actually his contemporary Tommy Johnson (no relation) who said this and performed this ritual. When asked, Tommy Johnson stated,

"If you want to learn how to play anything you want to play and learn how to make songs yourself, you take your guitar and you go to where a road crosses that way, where a crossroad is. Get there, be sure to get there just a little 'fore 12:00 that night so you'll know you'll be there. You have your guitar and be playing a piece there by yourself.... A big black man will walk up there and take your guitar, and he'll tune it. And then he'll play a piece and hand it back to you. That's the way I learned to play anything I want." (As told by LeDell Johnson to David Evans and quoted from Peter Guralnick's Searching for Robert Johnson, copyright © 1982, 1989.)

It is also important to note that the man encountered at the crossroads is black - as in the color black - not of African descent. This can be interpreted to be dressed completely in black, or that his skin is all black in color, etc.

The Crossroads Ritual
Accounts on this ritual vary a bit. Some folks say to go for 9 consecutive nights, others say 3. Some say to go before dawn and wait for the sun to come up. Here is my personal suggestion:

Perform this act for 9 consecutive nights. Take the item you wish you master with you to a crossroads (where two streets intersect at right angles to make a "+" shape) arriving about 15 minutes before midnight. When you arrive, sit on the corner and use your item (toss your dice trying to get a 7, play your guitar, etc.) the entire time you are there. Continue until about half an hour past midnight. While you are there, take note of black animals that might approach you, people dressed in black, etc. There is absolutely no need to do anything aside from showing up and doing your skill that you wish to master. The effort of showing up every night IS your offering to the spirit of the black man at the crossroads.

On the final night, a black man will approach you, take the object from your hand, show you how to use it, and hand it back to you. You've just made your pact with the Black Man at the Crossroads to become a master in your skill.

Some folks say that you are selling your soul to the Devil. Others say that you're making an alliance with him. My own personal experience has shown me that the spirit of the Black Man comes with you and inspires you in your work from that point forward, but your experience may vary.
